Work starts at £21m HQ redevelopment in Wolverhampton
Benniman has begun construction of a 207,225 sq ft headquarters redevelopment in Wolverhampton, on behalf of leading commercial property developer, Stoford.
The main contractor is delivering the expansion of the Task Consumer Products site at Citygate Park, Stafford Road in Wolverhampton.
Benniman will build an 83,500 sq ft extension to Task’s existing premises, as well as constructing an adjacent new build development of c.125,000 sq ft which will be targeting BREEAM ‘Excellent’.
Remediation work is being carried out on the brownfield site, which was historically used for landfill, while an existing surface water culvert will also be diverted to allow the construction of the new unit.
The 46-week project will include the formation of new access arrangements, car parking and landscaping. The professional team includes Webb Grey Architects.
It is the latest contract awarded to Benniman by Stoford, and follows the £6.7 million fit out of a new industrial/warehouse unit at Spa Park in Leamington Spa, for a multinational automotive manufacturing company.
Benniman’s managing director, Steven Smith said: “We’re very pleased to have been appointed to deliver another outstanding project on behalf of a long-term client in Stoford. The extension and development of this 18-acre site is crucial to the future of Task Consumer Products, and will provide purpose-built warehousing and distribution space to support its existing and expanded lines of production.”
