Award success reflects strength of HoW College partnership
Benniman has been awarded Business of the Year: Construction & Electrical at the Heart of Worcestershire (HoW) College Collaboration Awards 2026.
The awards recognise employers that go above and beyond to support HoW College students through apprenticeships, work experience, supported internships and industry engagement.
It is the second award Benniman has received in the past year in recognition of its partnership with the college, following its Excellence in Skills Partnerships win at the 2025 Skills West Midlands & Warwickshire (SkillsWMW) Awards.
The partnership was cemented in 2025 when Benniman and HoW College announced a three-year collaboration to help align education with the evolving needs of the construction industry.
The partnership is delivering benefits for students through co-designed curriculum content, careers talks, site visits, a carpentry competition and live work experience opportunities, helping learners develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed in the sector.
Michelle Dowse, principal and CEO at HoW College, said: “I genuinely believe that when education and employers work together, lives are changed. Our students gain the skills, confidence and experiences that prepare them for successful futures, while employers help shape the workforce our region needs.
“We are fortunate to have so many forward-thinking organisations that not only invest in their own people but also give their time, expertise and opportunities to support the wider community. Their commitment to developing talent and creating opportunities makes a real difference.”
Andy McNair, Benniman’s health, safety, quality and environment director, added: “We’re proud to receive this award and to see our partnership with HoW College recognised once again. Developing future talent is vital for our industry, and working closely with the college allows us to give students meaningful experiences while helping build the skilled workforce the construction sector needs.
